India defeated Ireland by 52 runs

Mithali Raj struck a half century as India defeated Ireland by 52 runs to qualify for the semifinals of the 2018 Women’s World Twenty20.

Ireland won the toss and chose to field in their group stage match in Guyana.

India posted 145/6 in their 20 overs thanks to a brilliant half century by the veteran Indian cricketer.

She made 51 runs from 56 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six.

Smriti Mandhana scored 33 from 29 balls with four fours and a maximum to her name.

Kim Garth took two wickets for the Irish side.

Ireland managed 93/8 in their 20 allotted overs with Isobel Joyce scoring 33 runs for the side after hitting four fours.

Clare Shillington made run-a-ball 23 runs with the help of three boundaries.

India became the second team from Group B to qualify for the elimination stage of the competition.

Mithali Raj was named Player of the Match for her performance with the bat.
