Fakhar Zaman wants to follow ‘world-class’ Virat Kohli

Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman said on Monday that he has learned a lot by watching the Indian captain Virat Kohli play and wants to follow in his footsteps.

“Virat Kohli is a world-class player who sets a fine example for all to follow with his hard work and his batting,” he said during an interview with Sky Sports. “I for one really enjoy watching Virat Kohli bat and I feel that I learn a lot by watching this master batsman at work.”

Eyes on maiden T20I century

Fakhar Zaman, who became the first Pakistani batsman to score a double century in an ODI when he played an unbeaten knock of 210 runs against Zimbabwe in July, is optimistic about scoring his maiden Twenty20 International century.

“I have already scored a hundred in a domestic T20 and now I am aiming to score a hundred in an international game as well,” Zaman said. “Hopefully, I will achieve this target very soon.”

The left handed opener said that he was thrilled to win PCB’s Outstanding Player of the Year Award. Zaman is the fastest man to reach 1,000 runs in one-day internationals. He achieved this feat in 18 innings to set the new world record.

He said that right now he is focused on performing well in the upcoming Asia Cup 2018. He added that the 2019 World Cup is an important tournament, “but it’s far too early for me to start planning for it as there are other international assignments to take care of before that tournament.”

The left handed batsmen said that his side will face a different challenge as it plays each team in next year’s World Cup in England and Wales.
