My aim is to become the world’s best bowler, says Shadab Khan

Leg spinner Shadab Khan expressed his desire to become the world’s best bowler by performing outstandingly in the upcoming Twenty20 triangular series and one-day series against Zimbabwe.

“I will be aiming to showcase my spin talent in best possible way during these two events to claim world number one bowling status,” he while speaking to the media after a training session ahead of Pakistan’s tour to Zimbabwe.

Pakistan will play a tri-nation Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe and Australia in July 2018. The green shirts will also play five one-day internationals against Zimbabwe.

The spinner said that he is working hard to polish his abilities and he always tries to help the team in any way possible.

“I have made my way to the senior team with sheer hard work and putting in a lot of effort while being a member of Pakistan’s A team,” he said.

He added, “Then I gave my best in the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) and eventually found a place in the national senior team.”

The cricketer went on to say that he always learnt and he is still learning, which was the best way to gain experience.

The leg spinner said he always concentrates on being a useful part of the team while demonstrating his skills and talent in batting, bowling and fielding.

“I can bat at any number in the batting order according to the need of the team as it is imperative for a player to adjust himself in the batting order in different situations,” he added.

Answering a question, Shadab said he will not be facing any difficulties while playing in T20 and one day matches after playing test cricket against England.

He said, “In my cricket career so far I have mostly played in shorter games and playing test cricket has added to my confidence and technique.”

The spinner said test cricket is a test of skills and technique and requires a lot of patience and a mindset with a temperament to exhibit his cricket talent.

“The recent tour of England and Scotland has added to the confidence of the players who will be performing better in the triangular series and one day series against Zimbabwe,” said the leg spinner.

He went on to say that Yasir Shah is his senior and he has no issue with his inclusion in the Pakistan team.

“Who will be playing next year’s ODI World Cup depends on luck and performance,” he said.

Shadab said that Shah is an outstanding spinner and a match winning bowler and he always prays for his success.

He said that pitches are mostly flat in Twenty20 cricket and the side that shows collective efforts and team work gains success. APP
