Islamabad United beat Peshawar Zalmi to regain PSL title

KARACHI: Islamabad United has defeated Peshawar Zalmi in the final of PSL 2018 to clinch the title for the second time. 

According to details, Islamabad United won the match with three wickets in hand.

Peshawar Zalmi after winning the toss decided to bat first, and set 149-run target for Islamabad.

Islamabad United chased the target in 17th over with the loss of seven wickets.

Luke Ronchi received the Man of the Match for his brilliant batting. Ronchi adds to his collection: PSL 2018’s Player of the Tournament.

Rashid Riaz is the PSL 2018’s best umpire, while Kamran Akmal is awarded the ‘best batsman’ award.

Kumar Sangakkara wins the award for most catches this season. Kamran Akmal (!) collects on his behalf. Faheem Ashraf’s 18 wickets earn him the ‘best bowler’ award.

KARACHI: Peshawar Zalmi will bat first against Islamabad United in the final of the PSL 2018 on Sunday. 

The players of both teams have asked Karachiites to come out in support of their respective sides.

Islamabad United batsman Jean Paul Duminy confirmed that he is traveling to Karachi. He said, “Don’t forget to support us”.

Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy said that he wanted the people of Karachi to support his side. He added, “I want everyone to wear the yellow shirt”.

Islamabad United, who finished at the top of round-robin stage, qualified for the final after comprehensively beating Karachi Kings by eight wickets.

Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators by a single run in the first eliminator. They went on to qualify for the final by beating Karachi Kings by 13 runs.

All tickets for the match were sold out in six hours. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi has asked everyone not to contact him for free passes for the PSL matches.

Strict security measures are being taken to ensure to untoward incident takes place during the match.
