LONDON: England’s Head Coach Trevor Bayliss has urged Joe Root to not participate in this 2018 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a busy international schedule this year.

England has a busy international schedule this year as they have to play limited-over games in Australia and are also scheduled to tour New Zealand in March this year.

England will also host Pakistan and India in the summer as well.

Bayliss stated, “We had that discussion a few days ago, I suggested to him that he shouldn’t play, that he should have a break.”

He added, “He feels that whenever he’s had a break in the last couple of years, it’s always been a T20 series. He wants to play in 50-over World Cups and T20 World Cups.”

The head coach further said that that the batsman feels as if he will “fall behind if he misses the 20-over games”.

“There are difficult decisions to make. You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t,” Bayliss added.
