Lahore ready for third Twenty20 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka

LAHORE: The third and final Twenty20 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

Pakistan has already won the Twenty20 series 2-0 and will be looking to cleansweep the former world champions at home.

The green shirts won the first game comfortably by seven wickets and clinch a nervy victory in the second Twenty20 International by two wickets.

The stadium will be filled with supporters who will come to see their favorite stars in action.

The visiting team reached Pakistan on Saturday night and was escorted to hotel under tight security measure.

It should be noted that doors of international cricket was closed in Pakistan following an attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009. In 2015, Zimbabwe became the first team to tour Pakistan as they played three T20s and three ODIs.

Pakistan could not host the final of the first edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) but organized the final of the second edition this year.

World XI – comprising of international cricketers namely  Faf du Plessis (South Africa), Hashim Amla (South Africa), Samuel Badree (West Indies), George Bailey (Australia), Paul Collingwood (England), Ben Cutting (Australia), Grant Elliott (New Zealand), Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh), David Miller (South Africa), Morné Morkel (South Africa), Tim Paine (Australia), Thisara Perera (Sri Lanka), Imran Tahir (South Africa) and Darren Sammy (West Indies) – also toured Pakistan this year for a three match Twenty20 series.

Strict security measures are being taken to ensure no untoward incident takes place on the occasion.
