LAHORE: The World XI arrived in the Old City on Monday with stringent security measures in place as the international stars were escorted to their hotel.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi and Punjab Minister of Sports greeted team World XI after they arrived in Lahore.

The players were escorted to their hotel in bullet proof coaches with armed personnel deployed for their security.  Coach Andy Flower said that the entire team was excited to be in Pakistan and were eagerly waiting for the series to begin.

"We've been given an overwhelming reception in Pakistan," he said. "We'll get to see good cricket in Gaddafi stadium," he added.

World XI player Samuel Badree will arrive in Lahore by evening. The first match of the Azadi Cup will be played tomorrow at Gaddafi stadium on Tuesday.
