LAHORE: Pakistani captain Sarfraz Ahmed is optimistic on beating World XI in the upcoming Independence Cup starting from Tuesday (tomorrow).

Speaking to media after unveiling Independence Cup trophy, Ahmed said that every series is important to the team and the side is doing well in the Twenty20 rankings.

“We will try to win this series and maintain our ranking,” he said.

The Pakistani captain added that the players are playing international match for the first time on home soil but they keep playing domestic games. He added, “It will be a great opportunity for them to perform well in front of their home crowd and ground.”

The skipper said that the players will receive praise if they play well at their home soil.

He admitted that playing World XI will not be an easy task. "We will try to give a tough time to the opposition," he added.

Ahmed also said that Sohail Khan will be playing instead of Mohammad Amir in tomorrow's game.
