Pakistan vs Sri Lanka: Abu Dhabi Test begins tomorrow

ABU DHABI: Pakistan will be playing the first Test of a three-match series against Sri Lanka at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

The match will begin at 11:00 hrs PST (06:00 GMT) and 10:00am local.

Pakistan have played nine Tests at this ground and have three wins. They are yet to lose at this ground and the last time Pakistan and Sri Lanka met in Abu Dhabi, the Test ended in a draw.

The Sarfraz Ahmed-led team is going to resume Test cricket after a long gap of four months in which they beat West Indies on their home soil. Lankan tigers, on the other hand, had a horrific test series against India at home in which they were blanked 3-0 followed by clean sweeps in the ODI and T20I.

Pakistan’s batting duo Younus Khan and Misbah-ul-haq will be missed in this series as these two greats retired after the West Indies tour.

Younis and Misbah have appeared in 193 Tests, collecting 15,331 runs, 44 centuries and 15 century stands between them, with there contribution they lift Pakistan team to the top of the Test rankings in August last year.

Captain Sarfarz Ahmed also admitted that these two(Yonus and Misbah) were backbone of Pakistan batting lineup.

Obviously, it´s not easy to fill the void they left as they were the backbone of our batting, says Sarfraz.

Their contributions were immense but now we have to move on, he added|
