Australia and India clinched easy wins in their respective ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 fixtures on Thursday, Samaa reported.
Australia beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets in their match at Bristol.
Sri Lanka, batting first, scored 257 runs as Chamari Atapattu scored 178 runs from 143 balls with the help of 22 fours and six sixes.
Ellyse Perry, Kristen Beams and Nicole Bolton grabbed two wickets each while Megan Schutt, Ashleigh Gardner and Elyse Villani took a wicket each as well.
Australia chased the target of 258 runs in 43.5 overs.
Skipper Meg Lanning played a captain’s knock of unbeaten 152 runs from 135 balls which included 19 fours and a six while Nicole Bolton made 60 runs from 71 balls with the help of eight boundaries.
Sripali Weerakkody and Shashalika Siriwardene took a wicket each.
Moreover, India defeated West Indies by seven wickets.
West Indies scored 183/8 in their given 50 overs while batting first.
Hayley Matthews made 43 from 57 balls with the help of seven boundaries while Afy Fletcher contributed 36 runs with the bat which included four boundaries.
Poonam Yadav, Deepti Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur grabbed two wickets for the team.
In reply, India reached the target in 42.3 overs.
Smriti Mandhana remained not out after scoring 106 from 108 balls with the help of 13 fours and two sixes.
Shamilia Connell, Stefanie Taylor and Hayley Mathews took a wicket each.
