ISLAMABAD: Nine members of Pakistan’s ICC Champions Trophy winning team will return home in the wee hours of Tuesday amid warm welcome from officials and fans.
According to a spokesman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the players will return to their respective cities.
Left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman, who scored a maiden century against arch-rivals India in the final, will land at Peshawar Airport, while Captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Ruman Raees would arrive at Karachi Airport.
Babar Azam, Hassan Ali, Faheem Ashraf and Ahmed Shehzad will arrive in Lahore and Imad Wasim and Shahdab Khan at Islamabad Airport.
Junaid Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Haris Sohail, Shoaib Malik and Azhar Ali will stay in the United Kingdom for a few days.
Speaking to SAMAA, Hassan Ali’s parents said the whole city of Gujranwala was full prepared to give a hero welcome to their son.
Separately, Fakhar Zaman’s brother said that preparations were finalized to receive their hero in Mardan. – SAMAA
