LAHORE: Shahzaib Hasan and Nasir Jamshed are believed to be the central characters of the latest spot-fixing scandal engulfing Pakistan’s cricket.

In a major crackdown, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended Sharjeel Khan, Khalif Latif, Mohammad Irfan, Nasir Jamshed and Shahzaib Hasan and launched investigations into their alleged contacts with a syndicate of bookies.

According to a source privy to the PCB’s investigations, Shahzeb Hassan and Nasir Jamshed are the main characters of the spot-fixing case.

The two players persuaded Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif to meet bookies and indulge in spot-fixing.

Sources add that Mohammad Irfan, Sharjeel Khan and Khalif Latif, who were grilled by the anti-corruption unit of the PCB, accused Shahzeb Hassan of introducing them to bookies.

Evidence collected by the anti-corruption unit showed that both Nasir Jamshed and Shahzaib had been in regular contacts with each other and bookies. – SAMAA
