KARACHI/LAHORE: Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi on Tuesday refused to appear before an inquiry committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

According to a PCB source, the inquiry committee held its first meeting today in order to establish facts behind Pakistan’s early exit from World Twenty20 and Asia Cup performance.

Shahid Afridi had been asked to appear before the committee on Wednesday to explain his position.

The T20 captain, however, refused to appear before the inquiry committee, saying that he could be reached on telephone.

Afridi told the committee that his daughter was unwell and that he could not appear before the PCB committee in person.

The committee comprises of Misbah ul Haq, Younus Khan, Subhan Ahmed and Shakil Sheikh. – SAMAA
