SHARJAH: Cameron Delport, hitting the highest score during his current stint with Pakistan Super League (PSL), guided Lahore Qalandars to four-run win versus Peshawar Zalmi in 15th match played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Earlier, Zalmi won the toss the elected to field first. Offered the chance to bat first, Qalandars lost Chris Gayle on the first ball.

Azhar Ali could rally only 25 runs off 26 balls with the help of three boundaries.

After the top order crumbled, Delport took up the lead and his partnership with Akmal for the third wicket yielded 101 runs. Delport smashed six boundaries and three sixes for his 78. Akmal’s 52-run innings featured six fours.

Zalmi’s Junaid bagged two wickets followed by Sammay who took one wicket.

Required to chase the target at eight runs per over, Zalmi’s top order also collapsed except Tamim Iqbal who scored 30 off 22 balls with four boundaries and a six.

Next in, Malan supported Zalmi with the much needed zing of 35-ball 42 with three blistering sixes. He was sent back to pavilion on the first ball of penultimate over.

The succeeding batsmen including skipper Shahid Afridi (9) and Shahid Yousuf (16) could not maintain the hit rate, causing the match to tilt in Qalandars’ favor.

Delport was honored with Man of the Match award for slamming half-century plus, his third of the season, picking up three crucial wickets and thus setting up a four-run win for his team. –SAMAA
