Sent into bat first by Zalmi, Islamabad United managed only 152 courtesy Khalid Latif, who hit his first fifty of the tournament.
Skipper Misbah ul Haq chipped in with 32 runs while openers Shane Watson and Sharjil Khan made 19 and 28 respectively.
Islamabad United must be disappointed by their effort in the final two overs of the inning, scoring only eight runs.
