Sethi hopes for early return of Amir

LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Najam Sethi, hoped that cricketer Muhammad Amir would be allowed to resume international cricket next year, before the end of his five-year ban for spot-fixing.

Sethi was speaking to media persons at Lahore airport upon his return from Dubai where he attended International Cricket Council meeting.

PCB on Friday announced that Sethi has been elected on the newly-formed, all powerful ICC Executive Committee (ExCo). “The ExCo comprises of five (5) members with representations from India, England and Australia besides two others, with Pakistan being elected as the fourth and the West Indies as the fifth member of the committee,” PCB said.

Sethi told reporters that instead of the ‘Big-3’, the five-member body has been formed to take key decisions of the ICC. Sethi claimed that Pakistan would acquire ICC chairmanship next year. – SAMAA
