Saeed, Gulriaz’s 181-run stand puts Balochistan on top in Pentangular Cup

KARACHI: Saeed Bin Nasir and Gulraiz Sadaf missed centuries but their fighting 181-runs eighth wicket stand put Balochistan on top on the second day of their four-day Pentangular Cup League Cricket tie against Sindh at National Stadium on Saturday.
Saeed was run out for 89 and Gulraiz trapped leg before by Sohail Khan for 84 as responding to Sindh’s modest first innings score of 126, Balochistan took a massive 236 runs lead by scoring 362 in their first innings.

When play ended for the day 5.2 overs early early, due to fading lights, holders Sindh were 24 without loss in their second innings still needing 212 runs to avoid an innings defeat with all their ten wickets in hand.

It was grand fight back by the Misbah-ul-Haq led Balochistan after they slumped to 150 for seven wickets before lunch break.

But Saeed and Gulraiz changed their team’s fortunes with a brilliant batting display on a pitch still assisting the bowlers.

Saeed struck nine boundaries and lifted Shahid Afridi and Fawad Alam out of the 6s batted for 230 minutes and faced 149 balls and Gulraiz’s sparkling 154-ball knock was studded with 13 boundaries in his 203 minute stay at the crease.

Balochistan at one stage were reeling at 150 for seven wickets before Saeed and Gulraiz retrieved the situation.

fast medium bowler Sohail Khan was the pick of Sindh bowling with four wickets for 66 runs in 36 overs. Shahid Afridi claimed four wickets for 113 in 27.5 overs.
