PESHAWAR: Islamabad hits 228 for
eight on the opening day of the four-day
Penthangular First Class Cricket Cup which got
under way here at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
NWFP won the toss and asked Islamabad to bat
first but it got a bad start when their opening
three wickets tumbled on just 21 score but later
on Fayaz Amin (37) and Usman Saeed (73) guided the team to get some score.
Fayaz Amin made 37 runs off 50 balls with six
boundaries while Usman Saeed hammered a cracking
73 runs off 136 balls with seven boundaries. Afaq
Raheem (20) off 47 balls with four boundaries,
Imad Waseem (34) off 23 balls with three
boundaries and Muhammad Amir (13) were the other leading runs contributors.
Thus Islamabad (Federal Areas0 made 228 runs for
the loss of eight wickets after playing 74 overs.
For NWFP Shakeel-ur-Rehman grabbed four wickets
for 62 runs in his 24 overs spell, out of five
were maiden, Junaid Khan took two for 68 runs in
his 18 overs spell, Nouman Habib took one wicket for 51 runs.
