KARACHI: Rain and hailstorm hit various parts of Karachi in the early hours of Monday. Samaa TV reported that hail hit Karachi after a good four years. In a city where we barely experience any rain, Twitterati could not contain their reactions to the tiny pellets of snow descending upon the usually hot city.

It was also the first winter rain of the season. Hail and rain were witnessed in different parts of the city, including DHA, Clifton, II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Kharadar, Sharae Faisal, Nazimabad and Malir. The showers were accompanied by thunder and lightning as well as gusty winds.

Here’s how some people reacted:

According to the meteorological department’s forecast, more rain will descend upon Karachi. The Met Office said in a press release that a “westerly wave” was expected to enter Pakistan from Sunday, which would produce rain with snowfall over the hills from Sunday to Wednesday. As a result, the cold wave is likely to prevail in most parts of Balochistan and Sindh, including Karachi, during the coming week.
