After Samaa highlighted the issue of Tayyaba the minor maid servant who was allegedly beaten up and was given stoke with ladle and her hands were burnt, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, on Wednesday took suo motu notice of Tayyaba torture case.
Supreme Court of Pakistan then directed to form a high-level investigation committee headed by DIG Islamabad to probe Tayyaba torture case. Meanwhile the affected little girl could not be produced before the bench in Friday’s hearing. In fact the police official had no knowledge of Tayyaba’s whereabouts.
The court directed the police official to produce the tortured girl and her parents before the court in next hearing on Wednesday.
Soon after the court orders police with the help of secret agencies recovered Tayyaba from a suburban area of Islamabad along with her parents.

Hearing held on Wednesday Tayyaba was produced in the Supreme Court where her case took a new twist.
The accused and three couples who claimed to be her parents also appeared in the court. Her alleged father, Azam and his wife reveled in the court that they disown any settlement with the accused family and also reveled that the agreement regarding forgiving the judge and his wife was fake.
The disclosed before the judge that he is illiterate therefore his thumb impression was taken on a plane paper.
On the basis of this paper, the judge’s wife had been granted bail in the case.
The three couples claiming her ownership withdrew following the hearing; however, her real parents are yet to be determined.
The court directed police to file a comprehensive report within 10 days, get her psychological examination and provide adequate security.
On court orders, meanwhile, Tayyaba was shifted to women’s shelter.




Federal Defence minister Khawaja Asif confirmed in a talk show on Friday that Former army chief General (retd) Raheel Sharif becomes the head of Islamic military alliance. He has been appointed as head of a 39-nation Islamic military coalition formed to combat terrorism.

But confusion prevails over Raheel Sharif’s appointment as Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says in an exclusive chat with SAMAA’s senior anchorperson Nadeem Malik on Monday that, “I’m not aware if he has been offered the post yet and if he has the offer and he had decided in principle to head the alliance, he will tell Saudis to wait for the approval.”

However, the former Pakistan army officer Lt-Gen (retd) Amjad Shoaib revealed that General (retd) Raheel set three conditions for taking up the new job that are as followed:

  1. To include Iran in the military alliance so that the organization doesn’t look sectarian in nature.
  2. He’ll not work under anyone’s command.
  3. He’ll have the mandate to act as an arbitrator if there is a need to promote harmony among Muslim countries.



The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday seeks evidences from Sharif family and other parties to prove their respective concerns over Panamagate scandle.

“The proofs regarding Sharif family’s ownership of the offshore companies since 1993 have not been submitted to the court so far”, remarks by five-judge bench.

The judges said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not produce record of his Jeddah factory and fake accounts were opened for the sake of money-laundering.

The PTI’s counsel Naeem Bukhari completed his arguments. The court adjourned the hearing till Tuesday.

The Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa resumed hearing into the Panama Papers case on Tuesday.

In Tuesday’s proceeding, a petition filed by Jamaat-e-Islami council Tauseef Asif Advocate, stating that all fingers are being pointed at the PM and his family; hence he is the only person who can tell the truth and justify his position.

“The PM addressed the Parliament in May 2016 and contrary to this speech, he produced Qatar royal family member’s letter in the court. In the court arguments so far, only the PM is in the focus.”

“It is, therefore, respectfully prayed that, under the facts and circumstances mentioned above, Mr Prime Minister may be called in person to clarify the controversy that has arisen due to his statements in order to reach the complete truth, in the interest of justice,” the application reads.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s lawyer, Naeem Bukhari, continued his arguments stating that London flats are owned by Sharif family in today’s hearing.

Meanwhile, Justice Khosa withdrew his previous observation in the case about implementation of Article 62 and 63 dealing with honesty and truthfulness.

As per the hearing on Monday, the bench identified “honesty” as the real issue in the Panama Papers case. The bench was of the view that there should be a balance between satisfying the requirements of law and interpreting implementation of the disqualification law that can affect everybody.

“This case is the first of its kind… we know the gravity of a declaration by the court and its affect for both the parties, saying that someone was not honest. But we have to lay down parameters, otherwise, except for the Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq, no one will survive,” Justice Khosa had observed.

However, Justice Khosa withdrew his observation in Tuesday’s hearing saying “I regret my words”.

“I should not have expressed such views regarding the parliamentarians”, he added.



Four Pakistani activist have gone missing this week namely Waqas Goraya, Asim Saeed, Salman Haider and Ahmed Raza Naseer. Waqas and Asim reportedly disappeared on January 4 while Salman Haider and Ahmed Raza vanished on Friday.

Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday informed the Senate that the government was making concerted efforts to recover the missing human rights activists.

“We are moving in a right direction and will recover the four missing activists in the light of progress made in investigations,” Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said in a statement in the House.

Submarine launched Cruise Missile (SLCM) Babur-3 was fired from an undisclosed location in the Indian Ocean having a range of 450 kilometers and hit its target with precise accuracy.



Pakistan’s renowned architect Habib Fida Ali died from brain hemorrhage on Saturday morning. He was 82. The veteran architect was under treatment at a private hospital in Karachi.

Following his qualification an associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects, he returned to Pakistan in 1964 and worked on many landmark architectural projects and buildings including the conservation and renovation of Mohatta Palace, Sui Northern and Southern Gas buildings, National Bank of Pakistan, The Forum and residences of eminent businessmen, intellects, entrepreneurs and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), the most celebrated and deliberated project of Fida Ali.



Earthquake jolts were felt in parts of Punjab including Sargodha, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin and other adjoining areas on Sunday.

According to Meteorological Department, Earthquake was recorded with the intensity of 4.2 on the Richter scale and the epicenter was found 59km below the surface, 19 Km northwest of Noor Pur Thal

KARACHI: Bailable arrest warrant issued for cricketer Wasim Akram by a local court in connection with an armed attack on his car back in 2015.

Linked to this incident Wasim Akram had lodged an FIR against the assailant, who later tendered an unconditional apology.

The local court in Karachi took up cricket legends Wasim akram’s application and issued notices to the cricketers for appearance, as he never showed up court then issued the arrest warrant calling him again on January 17.
