Hunza’s Altit Fort is not just majestic. The structure, made of stone, sand and wood, has stood tall in the face of numerous earthquakes.
“It’s a beautiful fort but it’s also [horrifying],” said one woman.
At some distance from Altit Fort lies the Baltit Fort. It has 53 rooms.
“In those times, they did not have technology,” said one man. “People of those times created a wonder of the world. Today, we have modern technology but we still can’t build such a structure.”
The Aga Khan Trust for Culture Historic Cities Support Programme and the Government of Norway restored the historical site.
