Cold intensifies as mercury dips to minus 10°C

QUETTA: The country is under the grip of severe cold as minimum temperature touched minus 10°C in Quetta and Kalat amid snowfall in Balochistan and northern areas, Samaa reported Wednesday.

Weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country yesterday. However, very cold weather conditions prevailed over most parts of Balochistan, sending chilling waves to Karachi and Hyderabad where temperature dropped to 14 and 12 degree centigrade respectively.

Synoptic Situation: A shallow westerly trough is affecting extreme northern parts of the country.

Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, light rain-thunderstorm with light snowfall over the hills is expected at a few places in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Shallow foggy conditions are likely over few plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning hours.
