ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended Election Reforms Act (ERA) 2017 in a case regarding the termination of Khatm-e-Nabuwat oath from Election Act.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui remarked that Election Reforms Act 2017 will remain suspended till the court takes up the case in the next hearing.

The IHC judge also warned against the politicization of the issue.

The court heard a case regarding the abolishment of clauses in Election Bill pertaining to the finality of the prophethood (peace be upon him).

After hearing the arguments from the sides, the court issued notices to all the parties and suspended the bill till the next hearing scheduled after 15 days.

The court will not pass any wrong order as it is a very sensitive matter, the judge said adding elections will not be allowed to take place under this law. –Samaa
