ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior, Ahsan Iqbal, who is a senior leader of PML-N, has reacted to remarks of his party college, Capt Muhammad Safdar.

On Tuesday, senior PML-N leader, Captain (r) Safdar, who is former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law, thundered in the National Assembly, demanding ban on induction of Qadiyanis in the armed forces and key posts of government. He accused the community of acting against the country’s interests.

Captain Safdar was widely criticised over his remarks.

While majority of the ruling PML-N has stayed mum on the speech delivered by the lawmaker, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal called it “tragic” in a tweet on Thursday, without naming Captain Safdar.

“It is tragic to see hate speech against minorities in National Assembly. We believe in inclusive Pakistan. Pakistan respects all minorities,” said Iqbal who is currently in the United States. – Samaa
