LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on Thursday announced support for PTI's candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid in the upcoming NA-120 by-election.
Qadri made the announcement in a joint press conference with PTI chief Imran Khan. The cricketer-turned-politician said lamented how innocent people had been mercilessly been shot in the Model Town massacre of 2014.
"We stand with Dr Qadri on the issue of the Model Town massacre," he said.
Imran stated that he was going to Data Sahab to pay his respects and that his party workers were accompanying him hence no one should have reservations regarding the issue.
The PTI chairman further said that if he was disqualified, he wouldn't take out a rally on G.T.Road and wonder why. Imran also slammed ECP for being a biased institution.
"22 parties were on the same page that rigging had taken place in elections 2013," he said. "However, nobody was punished for the offense," he added.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri announced his full support for PTI's candidate in NA-120 electoral showdown and said that Nawaz Sharif was not disqualified due to Iqama but because he was dishonesty.
"We will fight the battle for the martyrs of Model Town till our last breath," he said.
Qadri said that Supreme Court was superior to the parliament. He urged masses to give a clear verdict on September 17 that the nation stood against goons.
