Former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that the duty of ministers should not be to just give statements but to find solutions of problems at hand.

“Isn’t Pakistan’s internal security better than what it was in June, 2013? This was not possible due to foreign funding or pressure but due to Allah’s blessings and joint efforts,” the former interior minister said, according to his spokesman.

He said that federal and provincial governments, Army, police and all other agencies were involved in this joint effort.

“If ministers are now seeing any weaknesses, they should find a solution for that,” spokesman asserted.

He said that if a certain minister had an issue he should have raised it in the cabinet or the national security committee meeting.

Nisar noted that important and crucial issues should not be discussed based on hearsay. In reality, Pakistan has given 26,000 lives and bore a loss of 100 billion. “After so many sacrifices, the world still raises fingers on us,” he said.

“It is a peculiar situation right now; Army chief said that the world should do more now, but our interior minister and foreign minister said that we still need to do more. Both of them are ministers for four years now, did they say anything related to this in cabinet or national security committee meetings,” he questioned.

The former interior minister questioned whether the minister knows how popular his statement became in India. “In India people used this statement and built a narrative that all the problems are in Pakistan,” he said.

The spokesman further said that after so many achievements, there are still some problems in national security. “These problems should be solved with mutual consent and hard work and not through statements that your enemy enjoys,” he said.

The national security is a sensitive issue so the ministers should place national interest before making a statement.

“These statements are targeted towards security agencies and Pakistan Army,” he said. He said that if one has to give such statements they should have the courage to make those statements clearly.

Nisar’s spokesperson also clarified that a statement which is being attached to Begum Kulsoom Nawaz is false and based on treachery and lies.

“It is bewildering how it took 17 years for the anchor to break this news,” he said. “Begum Kulsoom Nawaz is ill these days and to attach such controversial news with her is indecent,” he said. – SAMA
