Karachi: Three-day Urs of Abdullah Shah Ghazi underway

KARACHI: Three-day Urs celebrations of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi are underway in Karachi amid tight security.

On account of it, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and its subordinate offices will remain closed on Thursday (14 Sept).

On Tuesday, Sindh Minister for Information, Labour and Transport Syed Nasir Hussain Shah Tuesday formally inaugurated the three-day Urs celebrations on behalf of Governor Sindh.

He laid wreath at the mazar and paid rich homage to the Sufi saint. In a statement, Nasir Shah said Sindh is the land of Sufis and holy men who preached and spread the message of love, peace, harmony and brotherhood among human beings.

He said that provincial government is committed to provide foolproof security to all visiting devotees.

He further said a research centre will be established at the shrine to provide maximum facilities to devotees and aware them about the message of Saints.

Meanwhile, amid tight security in and outside the tomb, thousands of devotees flocked to the shrine.

Urs of the ninth-century Sufi saint is celebrated from Zilhaj 20 to 22. – Samaa
