LAHORE: The lawyers convention that was called Saturday morning to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was subjected to chaos after the government lawyers rampaged through saying they will not allow the convention to be held.

It should be mentioned here that the lawyers of Supreme Court Bar Association and Lahore High Court Bar jointly called a convention to demand PM Sharif’s resignation over Panama charges.

Before the convention began, the lawyers hailing from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) barged into the hall with disorderly brawls triggering the chaos at the auditorium.

President of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Rasheed A Rizvi was shut down in the library after the groups of lawyers scuffled with each other. Later, the lawyers got Rizvi released. Talking to media, Rizvi said the government lawyers humiliated, shoved him and called him names.

The panes of the auditorium were dashed to pieces as a result of the chaos and ungainly scuffles.

Lawyers of bar associations said the attack was orchestrated by PML-N Lawyers Forum, adding however, the convention will take place as planned at all costs.

Meantime, the government lawyers said they are determined not to let this convention go as planned.

The government lawyers said Nawaz Sharif cannot be demanded to step down until the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) completes its investigations. –SAMAA
