Earthquake hits Islamabad, Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: A powerful earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale jolted many parts of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi this morning on Tuesday.

According to initial reports from Met Office, the jolts were felt in different areas including Swabi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Haripur, Mansehra, Wah Cantt, Attock and Abbottabad.

The epicenter of the quake was located in Hindu Kush Mountains, according to Met Office.

In Islamabad, panicked citizens rushed out of their homes to open places and started reciting Kalima.

There is no immediate report so far of any casualties or damage to property in the quake-hit areas. – SAMAA
