Cellular phone service partially suspended in Pindi, Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: As part of security measures for 70th Pakistan Day, that will be celebrated on Thursday, authorities suspended mobile phone services in parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Officials said the mobile phone service remained close from 9.00 am to 1:00 pm. The services will also remain shut on 23 March for nearly five hours.

Elaborate arrangements are underway to celebrate the Pakistan Day (23 March) with great national zeal and patriotic spirit amid tight security.

Armed Forces are busy in rehearsals and drills to celebrate it in a spectacular way.

It will be a closed holiday and the day will dawn with 31 gun salute in the Federal Capital, while 21 gun salute in the provincial capitals.

In this connection, a full dress rehearsal for the Pakistan Day parade held at Shakarparian Parade Ground in Islamabad.

Contingents of Army, Navy, Pakistan Air Force, Frontier Corps, Northern Light Infantry, Mujahid Force and other services are participating in the rehearsal.

Scores of fighter aircraft of PAF, Pakistan Navy and helicopters of Army Aviation is rehearsing flypast for the final day.

A contingent of China’s People's Liberation Army was also part of the rehearsal parade as special guest. – Samaa
