Balochistan on the path of progress, says PM Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the federal government has put Balochistan on the path of development and progress.

PM Sharif, while addressing a public meeting in Gwadar on Thursday afternoon, said that Balochistan is on the path of progress due to the efforts of the federal government.

He added that the construction of educational institutions and industries in the region will help the government in eradicating poverty in the area. He announced Rs. 1 billion for the construction of Gwadar University and the renovation of sewerage system.

The prime minister stated that construction work on a road connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan is in progress whereas a power plant — generating 300 megawatts of electricity — will be set up in the region.

He termed China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a game changer for the entire region.

PM Sharif went on to say that the government is determined to uproot terrorism from the country.  He added that people of Balochistan have rendered sacrifices for peace in the country.

The premier stated that a hospital — comprising of 300 beds — will be constructed in the sea port whereas and health cards will be provided to the poor people in the area.
