WASHINGTON: The United States has welcomed the appointment of General Qamar Javed Bajwa as new Pakistan Army chief.
Addressing media briefing in Washington, State Department spokesman Mark Toner said the United States is working quite closely with Pakistan in the field of counterterrorism.
He said Pakistan has suffered a lot from the menace of terrorism, and it is in the interest of Pakistan also to crackdown on terrorist groups.
To a question that terrorist get training in Pakistan and then hit US interests across the world, the US spokesman said these are mere allegations as the law enforcement agencies have not been able to confirm these allegations. –SAMAA/APP
