ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said suspension of SSP Rao Anwar is a politically motivated decision and added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif seeks to win favor with Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
Voicing concerns over the PM Sharif’s interference in police affairs, he said Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was compelled to suspend Rao Anwar.
Arrest of Muttahida leader Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan has been politicized as the premier forced CM Shah to free him, Khan said adding political intervention in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police is out of question.
Police of Punjab and Sindh are unable to establish peace in their provinces over political meddling, he added.
Imran Khan remarked Rao Anwar was performing his professional duty but the PM is afraid of investigations into Panama Leaks issue.
It should be mentioned here that Rao Anwar was suspended as he arrested MQM leader Khawaja Izhar without any warrant. –SAMAA
