LAHORE: Punjab Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha on Friday unveiled the annual budget of Punjab province for the fiscal year 2015-16, allocating Rs.400 billion for development projects, Samaa reported.
This is eighth consecutive budget of the Pakistan Muslims League-Nawaz’s provincial government.
The total outlay of the budget is Rs.1.447 trillion, with over Rs.400 billion apportioned for development projects, Rs.82 billion for health, Rs.310 billion – 27% of the total budget – for education, Rs.34 bln for energy projects.
Medical allowance of government employees have been raised by 25%, and their salaries by 7.5%.
Rs.20 billion have been earmarked for rehabilitation of flood affectees; Rs.10 billion for Orange Line Metro service; Rs.17 billion for Multan metro bus service.
Earlier, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of his cabinet that formally approved the provincial budget. – Samaa
