PPP defends Zardari’s threats to country's defenders

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) top brass says it stands behind Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s attack on the powerful military establishment, Samaa reported.

According to sources, Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the PPP in a meeting held here unanimously decided to go with the statement of the Co-chairman Zardari.

Following a salvo of allegations of corruption, land-grabbing, smuggling of Iranian oil, extortion, etc shot at Sindh government by the paramilitary troops, Rangers, Zardari Tuesday declared a war on the military.

“Stop victimizing us or we will tear you down brick by brick. We do not want to undermine your establishment. You are already entangled in extremist terrorism, Balochistan insurgency, and Indian threats. So be advised… You have been warned, you have been warned, you have been warned,” Zardari said blasting away the Pakistan's powerful army.

The CEC met under the leadership of the Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Zardari House on 17th June 2015 in Islamabad, said a press release issued here.

Throwing down the gauntlet, the former president of Pakistan threatened the country's war machine with dire consequences like ‘exposing’ the corruption of former generals.

“We know how to wage war.’And only we know how to do it.' Don't get us started or we will lay the tainted faces of many (retired) revered military big guns bare. I can pull out a list of the living or dead generals involved in graft –since 1947,” he boomed while speaking to a group of party leaders from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) here.

The Minutes of The Meeting

The Party took note of the recent hostile statements made by the Indian leadership and expressed concern that they were not conducive to making peace with honour in the region.

The PPP resolved to support the military in the crucial Zarb I Azb and counter terror operations.

The sacrifices and martyrs of the army, police and law enforcement forces were appreciated and recognized.

The PPP demanded that the federal government pay its full attention to pursuing the National Action Plan as envisaged in the APC in December 2014.

Finally, the meeting took notice of media comments on the Co-Chair’s remarks made at a party event where only one part of the speech was emphasized repeatedly.
