Pakistan must not join Yemen war: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that Pakistan must not become a party in Saudi-led strikes on Yemen.

In an exclusive chat with SAMAA on Sunday, Khan said that Pakistanis living in Yemen would be at risk if we became a party in the Yemen conflict.

“We have suffered enough in joining other’s war. We got 50, 000 Pakistanis killed by joining American war and sending our troops to Waziristan,” he said.

“I am sorry to say that we had been joining other’s war for dollars. As a result, this country paid a heavy price and you all know that,” he said. “We are still suffering from the consequences of previous wars.”

“We must not joint this war. Iran is our neighbor and Saudi Arabia is a friend. We should try to negotiate a ceasefire.”

Khan also expressed his pleasure fr winning his party’s first seat in Azad Kashmir.

According to unofficial results, PTI candidate Barrister Sultan got 15, 691 votes against PPP’s Chaudhry Ashraf who managed to get 12, 811 votes.

“We have got two wickets with one ball as PML-N withdrew its candidate in support of PPP,” he said.

The PTI chief hoped that his party would also win the upcoming by-election in NA-246, Karachi.

To a question, he praised the role played by SAMAA to run a special transmission for safe evacuation of Pakistanis stranded in Yemen. “I congratulate you for your efforts in this regard,” Khan added. – SAMAA
