World No Tobacco Day

World no tobacco day is an event that anticipates to persuade people not consume tobacco. According to World Health Organization there are about 1.3 billion smokers in the world and 5 million smokers die every year due to this hazard.

Addiction to smoking is a serious problem for many people as many of them think by consuming tobacco they will be relaxed and away from all the troubles in their life which makes them more addictive to it. It’s not only cigarettes which cause premature deaths but dipping, chewing and vaping nicotine is also one of them. It’s just that ‘one puff’ which brings us close to death.

In our society majority are chained smokers who think nothing is better than lighting up a cigarette and most of the smokers wish to put an end to their nasty obsession. Look around yourself or go to an elite place you will find kids with an electric cigar or a cigarette itself. Most of the kids start consuming tobacco by the peer pressure of their friends and some think it will raise their standards.

  • Peer smoking: Peer smoking appears to be one of the major factors influencing people of all age and gender. Peer pressure mostly comes from the friends.
  • Parent Smoking: Parents who smoke influence their children. This is more influential for girls than boys
  • Self Concept. Our generation has made a self-concept of overcoming depression by consuming tobacco. Mostly people in their adolescence consume nicotine and other drugs as it give them pleasure. Moreover, a lot of people think smoking helps them to appear in the group.
  • Easy Availability: Tobacco and other drugs are easily available without any restriction by the government. Cigarettes are available to the minors without any age restriction by the government.Person rolling joint, close-up of hands and bag of marijuana

Health Effects of Tobacco

Many of us are under the impression that the only people harmed by tobacco use are smokers but the additional fact is that tobacco use can harm the unborn babies and people who don’t smoke. The major effects which tobacco has are following:

  • Miscarriage:

Women with addiction of drugs forget about the harm they give to their unborn child by consuming tobacco and other            drugs in order to fulfill their lust which results in the miscarriage of their child.

  • Lung Cancer:

Cigarette smoking is the number one risk factor for lung cancer. People who smoke cigarettes are 15 to 30 times more likely      to get lung cancer or die from lung cancer

  • Bronchitis :

The primary symptom of bronchitis is cough which is caused by the excessive use of cigarette

  • Blood Cancer:

Poisons in cigarette smoke can weaken the body’s immune system, making it harder to generate new blood and it damages       DNA.

Measures to quit usage of tobacco

  • Call your doctor.
  • Chew mint gums.
  • Stay busy with healthier activities. Try biking, walking, running, or other sports.
  • Think about your family. Just for a while think of the time when you’ll have to leave your family because of your nasty habit.
  • Save the money that you would have spent on smokeless tobacco and use it for something special.

Apart from the above discussion our society is indulged in such fascinations which results in addiction. Let’s take an example around us only and see how many girls ask their male friends to give them one puff of their favorite brand cigarette and later on buy themselves and hide it from their parents. We all need to fathom that one puff is sufficient for the youth to make it their routine. It is the duty of the government to organize the campaigns and workshops for conditioning the prevailing mindsets of the youngsters.
