Disgraced Amir’s Return: Hit or Miss?

Many people have been against Muhammad Amir making a comeback in the International arenas for Pakistan as they think he cannot be trusted after the spot fixing incident in 2010, but his recent performance in the BPL has dismissed these thoughts   in fact he is set to break the door and dismissed big names in the ongoing BPL series.

Misbah-ul-Haq became the first target of the disgraced Amir in the opening match as Misbah’s team Rangpur Riders and Amir’s Chittagong Vikings faced each other. The Test captain of Pakistan, Misbah was playing well but  Amir trapped him with a yorker and clean bowled him.

Amir cleaned ruled out top notch Shahid Afridi with his well crafted yoker.  Afridi looked completely clueless when Amir dismissed him.

Amir rattled Hafeez and made sure that he leaves the pavilion with no scores, Hafeez who had earlier refused to play for Chittagong Vikings because of Amir’s existence and he also made a statement that he cannot share a dressing room with someone who dents the integirity of Pakistan.

Interestingly, Hafeez first game was also against Amir. The 23-year-old from Gujar Khan brought Hafeez under pressure after beating him three times from the off-side and finally got the breakthrough as Hafeez edged a delivery and the ball was easily caught by the wicket-keeper.

Amir was naturally ecstatic and pumped up, which showed that the player has still got the same zeal and zest even it looked like that he knocked him out because  of the statement  he made against him.

Amir had played a vital role in Pakistan’s win at the 2009 World T20 and he is targetting the 2014 World T20 now.

The chairman of PCB Shaharyar Khan and coach Waqar Younis have already made it clear that Amir has impressed them with his performance in the Domestic T20 Cricket and BPL. Amir has picked up 14 wickets in 9 BPL matches so far and had also kicked out Shoaib Malik in Sialkot vs Rawalpindi match in Pakistan, which means he has already dismissed four T20 captains of Pakistan since returning from the spot fixing ban.

Some of Amir’s critics have spoken against him for his excessive celebration after dismissing fellow players in the BPL and think that he gets carried away, but that is a natural response of fast bowler .

But PCB still holds the key and will decide if Amir will return to Pakistan team for World T20 or not. And if does, Pakistan’s bowling attack would surely be strengthened with two more left-armers Mohammad Irfan and Wahab Riaz being in great form.
