People have been speculating about the reshuffling of PM Imran Khan’s cabinet after Asad Umar stepped down as the finance minister on Thursday.

SAMAA TV asked State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi if his portfolio is being changed too.

“I am ready for anything. I will accept any decision taken by PM Khan,” he replied.

On April 15, reports emerged there could a possible reshuffle in the posts for Minister for Finance and Minister of State for Interior. Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, at that time, said that there was no truth to the reports.

“PM Khan has the discretionary right to shuffle his cabinet,” he wrote in a tweet.  Pakistan is going through difficult times and such reports should not be run without verification, he had said.

Three days after, Finance Minister Asad Umar announced on Twitter that he was offered the portfolio of energy. He said that he told PM Khan that he won’t be able to do justice to the ministry and made the decision to quit PM Khan’s cabinet.
