Members of five gangs involved in robbing and stealing money from residents in multiple areas of Punjab were arrested by the Pakpattan police on Monday.

All 19 members of the gangs were taken into custody. The police confiscated valuables worth more than Rs5 million from their possession, including jewellery, cash, motorcycles and weapons.

“The suspects used to rob people, their houses and then fled to another city or district in Punjab,” a police officer said. “They were arrested with the help of special tracking devices and other modern technologies,” he added.

The robbers had been absconding for a while and the police in multiple parts of the province had been on the lookout for them.

A case has been registered and the suspects are being interrogated.
