On Friday (June 12), Gilani appeared before a court in the Toshakhana reference. Former president Asif Ali Zardari and ex-prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Gilani have been accused by NAB of misusing official gifts given to them by foreign states.
Gilani had also filed an application in the court requesting for a permanent exemption from appearance in the case because of the COVID-19 situation.
Pakistan has reported a total of 132,405 coronavirus cases and 2,551 fatalities so far. Other politicians such as Shehbaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also tested positive for the deadly virus.
