A petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court for an investigation into the PK-8303 plane crash.
The ill-fated plane crashed in Karachi’s Model Colony on May 22, killing 97 people.
In the petition filed on Thursday, the federal government and departments concerned have been named as respondents.
It says PIA must ground all passenger planes that have not been inspected and cleared.
The petition has asked the court to summon the CEO of PIA and director-general of the Civil Aviation Authority. It claimed that the planes were bought during the tenure of the PML-N with the collusion of now PM’s adviser on aviation Captain Shujaat Azeem and then finance minister Ishaq Dar.
The petitioner wants all of PIA’s planes grounded until an independent organisation clears them for flights.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar is heading a two-judge bench hearing the case. The next hearing is on May 29.
