A 48-year-old police officer in Karachi passed away after succumbing to the novel coronavirus on Monday, according to the Sindh Police.

He was serving at the MT Workshop in Karachi and had tested positive for the virus a few days back.

This is the third police officer in Sindh who has lost the battle with the deadly virus. So far, a total of 151 officers have reported infections. Of these 29 have recovered and have been sent back home.

Police officers have been serving on the front line to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the province.
