One killed, two injured in Northern Bypass factory blaze

It took fire fighters three hours to extinguish the fire

At least one person was killed and two others were injured after a fire erupted at a battery factory in Karachi.

The factory is located in Mohammad Khan Colony near Northern Bypass.

The fire department said that at 11:28am a caller informed the Orangi Town Fire Station that a broke out at an industrial unit near Northren Bypass.

Two fire tenders, one each from Orangi Town Fire Station and SITE Fire Station, were rushed to the site. It took fire fighters almost three hours to extinguish the fire.

Three injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment where one of them succumbed to injuries.

District West Senior Superintendent of Police Suhai Aziz told SAMAA Digital that fire broke out in the plastic section of the battery manufacturing unit. She said the cause of fire could not be ascertained immediately.

Last month, 17 labourers were killed in a fire that erupted at a factory in Korangi’s Mehran Town.
