The state has failed in providing education to its people. It has been forcing students to enrol in private schools, said Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.

The top judge was hearing a private schools fee case at the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

“The state is responsible for the education of its people,” he remarked.

Notices have been issued to the federal and provincials governments.

The governments have been asked to submit recommendations for granting free education to people. They have been asked to submit education statistics too.

The government should be prepared and answer our questions at the next hearing, said Justice Khosa.
