The exams had been delayed twice before

Students across Sindh are taking their Matriculation exams today (April 1) after a series of delays.

The education department has set up 365 exam centres across the province where 367,606 students are taking their exams.

The government has also imposed Section 144 of the PPC for the exams.

The education department is also taking measures to stop cheating. It will be punishing students caught cheating strictly.

On March 29, the education department decided against delaying the exams for a third time. They had been delayed twice before – on March 20 and March 25.

The March 20 exam was postponed for Holi till March 23 and then postponed once again due to a protest by teachers. The teachers had said they would not invigilate the exams until their demands were met. However, they ended their protest on March 29 after the government accepted their demands.

The same day, Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah said there would be no more delays and announced that the exams would be held on April 1.
