The wife of PML-N leader and former federal education minister Balighur Rehman died in a road accident on Monday. Four others, including three children, sustained injuries in the mishap.
The accident took place near the Gojra Interchange, said the Motorway Police. The deceased and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, police said.
Police said the accident was a result of over-speeding. The driver lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst, police said, adding that the car overturned, leaving Uzma Rehman, the minister’s wife, dead on the spot.
The rescue personnel and the Motorway Police shifted the victims to the DHQ hospital in Gojra. The minister’s children are said to be in critical condition.
PML-N founder Nawaz Sharif offered condolences to the former minister and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
