Pakistani who fled the Taliban in Swat killed in USA

A Pakistani man who fled the Taliban in Swat in 2008 was gunned down in New York on April 1.

Shakeel Ahmed Khan fled Swat after his father and two brothers were killed by the Taliban in 2008. The Taliban had attacked his uncle, ANP leader Waqar Ahmed Khan’s house in Swat’s Shah Dherai, killing his father Iqbal, brothers Jameel and Abbas and five domestic workers.

Shakeel left Swat to go to the US and started a new life there. He opened a restaurant.

He was leaving his restaurant on April 1 when unidentified assailants opened fire and killed him.

His body was sent back to Pakistan on April 4 and he was laid to rest in his hometown on April 5. His funeral was attended by a large number of ANP leaders and workers, along with his friends and family.
