April 18, 2019

Pakistan’s accountability bureau arrested former president Asif Ali Zardari’s aide in the fake accounts case.

Iqbal Khan Noori has been accused of extending loans and misappropriating funds. He is the director of Parthenon Pvt Ltd, which NAB claims is affiliated with Park Lane Estate Pvt Ltd. The company is owned by PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his father.

NAB claims that Noori took a loan worth Rs1.5 billion from the National Bank. The loan increased to Rs3.5 billion but was never repaid.

Noori was presented before an accountability court on Thursday. The court remanded him into NAB’s custody for 14 days.

Muhammad Ali Shah, who has been named in the fake accounts case, approached the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday to seek an interim bail. The court approved his interim bail till April 25. He has been ordered to submit surety bonds worth Rs0.5 million.
