Man sentenced to life imprisonment for killing brothers-in-law

April 17 , 2019

The Supreme Court sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his brothers-in-law over a property dispute in 2012.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Asif and Ghulam Mustafa.

Akhtar Saleem, who hails from Mansehra, was sentenced to death by a trial court. He challenged the verdict in the high court and was acquitted. The apex court found him guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment on Wednesday. The police were ordered to arrest him.

Saleem’s alleged accomplice, Afzaal Rabi, was acquitted.

The court rejected the suspect’s request to adjourn the proceedings till he gets a new lawyer.

“The work meant for today will be completed today,” remarked an SC judge.
